Using Blood Wisely is a national campaign aimed at decreasing inappropriate red blood cell transfusion practices in Canada. The program seeks to make a measurable impact by assessing appropriateness against national benchmarks and implementing evidence-based practices.
Developed by Choosing Wisely Canada in partnership with Canadian Blood Services, Using Blood Wisely is guided by a national Steering Committee and several technical working groups.
